Caligari is a ten year old gelding who has jumped up to 1.35m and he has been ridden mainly by amateur riders. As a 6/7-year-old he impressed with several top placings on the Youngster tour. He is a eye-catching dark bay with a strong jumping technique and great ability and carefulness. He is able to jump big fences confidently and for an experienced rider, whether professional or amateur, he has enough ability to jump bigger tracks. Similiarly, his rhythmical canter and straightforward approach towards jumping would also make him a very good schoolmaster for less experienced riders at lower levels. His sire Canturino was sired by famous stallion Canturo. Canturo competed at the highest levels in showjumping. He was placed at the Federal Championships of German Show Jumpers and competed in the final at the World Young Horse Championships at Zangersheide. Canturo won the highly prestigious Spruce Meadows Grand Prix in Canada, competed at the 2004 Olympics in Athens/GRE and won the Prize of Europe at the 2005 CHIO in Aachen. His offspring have placed their sire at the top of the WBFSH world rankings; having won together more than 3 Million Euro, the same amount of money he earned as a grandfather of sporthorses. 40 of his offspring are competing successfully at 1.60m level. His dam Bossanova is sired by the Zangersheide stallion Quick Lauro Z, who as a 6 and 7 year old was amongst the best showjumping horses of his generation.He was ridden by Jos Lansink before he was sold for an astronomical amount to the U.S.A. Quick Lauro Z is a son of the famous sports and breeding stallion Quick Star on whom Meredith Michaels filled a giant trophy cabinet. His dam’s sire Lauriston was also an international showjumping horse and produced, amongst others, the Olympic jumper Promise Me ridden by Ian Millar. Also Calato brings superb genes to Caligari’s pedigree. Calato has proved to be one of the best sons of Capitol I in breeding terms. And on his dam’s side he has inherited excellent genes, with Landgraf I, Calypso I, Rigoletto and the lineage 474a.
